Our method: where every number on this site comes from

Nothing here is typed from memory. Measured values are extracted from the game by a script and carry their build number; computed values say so; opinions are labelled as opinions. Here is exactly how, and what we still do not know.

Confirmed Updated · numbers from version 23882143

Four kinds of statement appear on this site, and each is handled differently.

Measured. Costs, hit points, armour values, weapon damage, ranges, build times. These are read out of the game’s own data files by a script and written straight into the pages. No one retypes them. Every measured value carries the build it was read from — currently 23882143, the public demo — because a number that was true in one build is not automatically true in the next.

Computed. Damage per second is the main example. The game does not store it; we calculate it from damage and the full firing cycle, which is the aim time plus the reload. Where a figure is computed we say so, and where a weapon cannot be compared fairly — a continuous flame weapon with no reload, for instance — we flag it rather than rank it against weapons that fire in discrete shots.

Quoted. Anything the developer has said publicly is quoted with the date of the announcement it came from. If we tell you the reasoning behind a mechanic, you can check the source yourself.

Opinion. How to use a unit, what to build first, which upgrade is worth its cost. These recommendations are our interpretation of the data, kept separate from the developer’s quoted advice. They are presented as our reading, not as confirmed facts.

What we do not know, and say so. The game’s resistance values are stored as numbers whose scale the developer has never documented. We report the values and flag the unusual ones — one infantry squad carries a negative fire resistance where its peers carry positive ones — but we will not convert them into percentages we cannot justify. Guessing a scale and printing it as a fact is exactly the failure this page exists to prevent.

What happens when the game changes. Every fact carries its build. When a new build appears, its data must be extracted and compared with the previous set field by field before pages with changed numbers are updated. The date at the top of each page tells you when it was last checked against the game.
