What it is
Artillery guidance names a stance requirement in its official description: “All artillery in "Hold Position" mode fires at the selected position at any range.
This ability can be blocked if there is no artillery in the required mode.” Demo build 23882143 records a 15-second cooldown and a maximum correction-range setting of 35. The linked Spotters component also has a spotting-time field, so this is not merely an unexplained instant order. The description’s range wording and the configuration’s range setting must be kept distinct; neither supports a promise that any gun can hit anywhere on the map. Prepare suitable artillery in Hold Position and verify the call’s actual availability.
Where it comes from
The phrase “at any range” appears in the official description for demo build 23882143. Howitzer Molot separately records a base weapon range of 10 and a range bonus of 51. Those fields belong to the gun, while the guidance entry carries its own range and stance conditions. Do not add the fields in prose or treat the description as proof of a shot anywhere on the map. The useful documented distinction is between artillery’s weapon parameters and the order that directs it; the runtime interaction still needs to be checked in play.
How it is actually used
Place the artillery and select Hold Position before issuing guidance. The official description says the call can be blocked when no artillery is in the required mode; it does not say that a single unsuitable gun disables every suitable gun. Interceptor is described with the recommendation “Pairs perfectly with artillery”, so reconnaissance is a sensible companion to the setup. Check the selected ground and the call’s availability, then observe which guns participate. Neither reconnaissance nor the recommendation establishes unlimited range, automatic targeting or a guaranteed hit.
How to beat it
Pressure on the gun position may force an opponent to reconsider Hold Position, but it does not guarantee that the guidance call becomes unavailable. Howitzer Molot records an area coefficient of −0.6; the same value, −0.6, belongs to that unit’s defence, not to a bonus granted by this ability. Do not turn the coefficient into a damage multiplier or a universal claim that splash is the right answer. Consider movement, direct pressure and cover according to the artillery actually present. The stance requirement gives you a condition to watch, not a guaranteed counter.
