What it is
Interceptor calls in a patrol aircraft and explicitly mentions reconnaissance and artillery: “Call in a P-2 interceptor to maintain a constant patrol in the sky. It can also be used for aerial reconnaissance. Pairs perfectly with artillery.
Range: 4 sectors.” Demo build 23882143 records a 60-second cooldown, an initial cooldown and use in fog. The linked air-spawn component identifies the aircraft, but its lifetime setting must not be read as the patrol’s combat duration. The description supplies a sector reach; it does not establish that every artillery piece can fire at every revealed position. Check the aircraft and Artillery guidance pages when setting up this combination.
Where it comes from
In demo build 23882143, the Interceptor description gives a sector reach distinct from the bomber calls. The spawned P-2 has its own unit record, including an area-resistance coefficient of 0.0. That coefficient is not proof that splash deals its full listed damage, and it does not measure how easy the aircraft is to destroy. The connection to a named aircraft makes its defence and weapons available for comparison. It does not turn the support call into a permanent or uncontested source of vision.
How it is actually used
The developer writes “Pairs perfectly with artillery”, which supports considering the patrol alongside artillery. Reconnaissance can help identify a position worth firing at, while Artillery guidance has its own Hold Position requirement. Prepare the guns and check the target area before committing the combination. Do not infer that the aircraft automatically grants unlimited weapon range or that spotting alone causes a shot. The value of the pairing depends on the patrol surviving, the target remaining relevant and the artillery meeting the ability’s conditions.
How to beat it
The P-2 patrol is a potential reconnaissance source, so consider contesting it with suitable anti-air rather than ignoring its route. Its recorded area coefficient is 0.0; this is not a guarantee of full splash damage or a rapid kill. Removing the aircraft may deny that source of vision, but it does not directly reduce the guns’ recorded range and does not rule out other scouts. Keep watching the artillery position as well as the patrol. The description’s constant-patrol wording should not be converted into a claim of an unlimited lifetime.
