What it is

Armor-piercing shells is one of the few modules in the files whose description promises a gain with no stated cost: “increased penetrating mass in projectiles increases damage to vehicles.” Confirmed by the game files, build 23882143. The module records exactly what it moves: +40 damage against vehicles, −30 against infantry and −10 against buildings, in a slot of size 3. Eleven of the twenty modules are written this way, and nine name a trade-off instead; this one does not.

Where it comes from

Damage in this game is split by target type: every weapon in the files carries a separate value against infantry, against vehicles and against buildings, build 23882143. A module that raises only the vehicle column is therefore a specialisation, not an upgrade — it makes a weapon better at one of its three jobs. The Empire BMP, for example, does 71.4 damage per second to infantry and far less to armour, and that gap is what this module addresses.

How it is actually used

Take this on something whose anti-vehicle number is already the reason you built it, not on a general-purpose weapon. The site publishes recorded damage figures on armed-unit fiches, so the check is direct: if the vehicle column is already the largest of the three, this module compounds a strength. ⭐ And the trade is measurable, not a matter of judgement: +40 damage against vehicles, −30 against infantry and −10 against buildings — build 23882143. So it pays on a weapon that already ignores infantry, and costs more than it gives on one that does not. ⚠️ This section said until 4 September 2026 that the amount was not recorded anywhere in the files, while the top of this same page listed all three figures.

How to beat it

Against an opponent running armour-piercing loads, infantry becomes the cheaper answer rather than the braver one — a module that raises only the vehicle column reduces the infantry column. The Empire Brutes cost 35 minerals and five population, which is the kind of trade that punishes a specialised load. The files give the whole trade in three figures, and the description only names its direction. Our reading.
