What it is
Anti-explosive layer is the clearest trade in the module list, and the description states both halves in one sentence: “increases the vehicle’s resistance to area damage at the cost of direct damage protection.” Confirmed by the game files, build 23882143. ⛔ The module records numerical changes to area resistance, armour and maximum hit points. What makes this readable anyway is that both fields exist on every unit fiche on this site. It is one of nine modules out of twenty whose description names an explicit exchange rather than a plain gain.
Where it comes from
Area resistance runs from −0.6 on the Empire Molot artillery, a negative serialized value, to 0.7 on the BREM repair vehicle — build 23882143. Armour, meanwhile, runs from 2 on a missile squad to 140 on the Mutant Strong crawler. So the two things this module trades are measured on completely different scales, so raw resistance values should not be converted into a damage percentage without the application formula. This module records its modifiers separately from its description.
How it is actually used
Compare the vehicle’s area resistance before considering the module. The Empire Molot records −0.6, a negative serialized value whose damage formula is not established here. BREM records 0.7; its higher raw value does not prove that the module is useless there. The module also removes protection, so neither coefficient alone determines a recommendation. Rebel factories at 0.0 are a different case: buildings are outside this vehicle module’s admitted target type. Our interpretation requires compatibility and the whole defensive record.
How to beat it
The description suggests considering direct fire rather than area damage. Recorded changes include a loss of 10 armour and 50 maximum hit points for +0.15 area resistance. These are field changes, not a complete measure of final damage taken. The entry modifies the armour field without an accompanying rear-armour modifier, so it does not establish an unchanged front-to-rear gap. Compare the target’s remaining protection and weapon interactions. Our interpretation, not a tested matchup.
