Damage per second = damage ÷ fire cycle, computed by the build script.

What it is

Brutes cost 35 minerals and 5 population, with a short training time. The description calls them “Slow, inept, and deformed, but armed cannon fodder.” In demo build 23882143, their base health is 1 400; the extra-health capacity is 500, but that capacity is not filled at spawn. Armour is 2. The rifle’s damage fields are 11 against infantry and 1 against vehicles and buildings. These figures describe the squad’s starting protection and weapon, without proving that it wins a particular exchange or supplies free infantry through every production route.

Where it comes from

The Complector announcement explains a separate source of Brutes: it “provides free infantry, the 'Brutes'.” The developer said a conventional infantry-health upgrade “would be out of style for the faction.” in the faction’s theme. That explanation was published on 15 June 2026. It describes an output of the macro structure, while the unit configuration also retains a mineral price. The two records should be read together rather than turning the free output into a claim that every Brutes order is free. Consult the Complector and its infantry mode when planning this source of reinforcements.

How it is actually used

The rifle has a calculated infantry output of 29.7 damage per second and a vehicle output of 2.7. These are weapon-cycle estimates before the target’s protection and battlefield conditions. The catalogue’s combined health capacity is 1 900, including extra health that starts empty; it is not the health available to a fresh squad. Brutes can occupy a position or accompany an advance, but their rifle alone is not a demonstrated answer to armour. Check the actual squad health and the weapons behind it before relying on it to hold an approach.

How to beat it

Reading “1 400 hit points” as a promise of a durable front line is a mistake. Armour is 2, while the fire and area-resistance coefficients are 0.5 and 0.4; those coefficients are not documented damage percentages. Compare the attacking weapon and the squad’s current health rather than assuming every shell penetrates or every area effect destroys it. If Brutes keep arriving from a Complector, disrupting that source may matter alongside fighting the squads already present. The building page explains the production link; target priority still depends on access and defence.
