Damage per second = damage ÷ fire cycle, computed by the build script.

What it is

The Giant is one of the two toughest units in the demo: 9 000 hit points with 300 in reserve, tied exactly with the Mass of flesh, where the sturdiest Empire vehicle carries 1 900. It costs 1 300 minerals, 60 population and 80 seconds, which ties it with the Mass of flesh as the most expensive mutant. The official description is short — “a mutant from the Colossus series. Destructive in every sense.” Its armour is 50 on every face, with no directional split. Its attack does 300 damage to infantry, 250 to vehicles and 100 to buildings on a 4.65-second cycle: 64.5, 53.8 and 21.5 damage per second. It fires while moving, with a four-tile minimum range. Confirmed by the game files of build 23882143.

Where it comes from

The Giant is what the developer meant on 3 June 2026 when he introduced the mutants as “an enemy that inspires horror. Heavy units, disgusting worms and flies. Lots of heavy armor; they force close-quarters combat.” Confirmed by that announcement. It also marks one end of the widest price spread in the game: the same faction fields a 5-mineral concrete eater and this, with very little in between. That shape is the faction — extremes at both ends, and a doctrine that asks you to survive contact rather than avoid it.

How it is actually used

The Giant is a health bar you push forward, and its damage is secondary. At 64.5 damage per second against infantry it is not the hardest hitter the mutants own; what it does is absorb an entire defensive line’s output while cheaper things get past. Its four-tile minimum range is the constraint to remember — something that closes inside it is not being shot by the Giant at all. Note its gas resistance of −0.5, the only negative value in its entry, against a fire resistance of 1.0. We report those numbers rather than convert them, since the developer has never documented the scale. Our reading.

How to beat it

Do not out-damage it — 9 000 hit points behind 50 uniform armour is a losing race for almost any army. Attack the resistance instead: the Giant’s gas resistance is −0.5 where its fire resistance is 1.0, which is a durable target with a written weakness, and it is the only negative field it has. The second answer is its own minimum range: infantry that survives the approach and closes inside four tiles is safe from its attack. And remember the wider mutant rule — killing them produces more of them, so removing the Giant does not empty the space it occupied. Our reading.
