What it is

Minefields is a local equipment entry described as “Mine-laying kit”. In build 23882143, it costs 80 minerals and takes four seconds. Its linked component adds the mine-installation ability to the BREM repair vehicle, providing a concrete host and action beyond the short description. The ability and mine components must be read separately for placement, damage and activation behaviour. An empty field on the upgrade itself does not establish that the extraction has no mine parameters. Consult the ability page before using the kit as an immediate defensive response.

Where it comes from

The Installation of mines ability warns: “Places pressure mines. The mines don't activate immediately. Be careful, you might run into them yourself.” This text belongs to build 23882143. The linked upgrade component adds that ability to the BREM; the upgrade and action are therefore connected by a record rather than merely by similar names. The warning supports delayed activation and a risk to the owner, but is not a numerical description of the delay or damage. Other linked components add or remove abilities on their hosts too. Keep the kit’s installation cost, the action’s requirements and the mines’ own behaviour separate.

How it is actually used

The kit equips the BREM with a mine-placement ability, so plan the repair vehicle’s route as well as the field itself. The ability description warns that activation is delayed and that the owner can encounter the mines too. Place them where those constraints fit the intended movement, rather than treating the button as an instant wall during a retreat. The kit has a recorded purchase cost, while the ability and mines have separate component records. Read the Installation of mines page for those parameters before assuming a free action, an immediate detonation or a safe passage for friendly units.

How to beat it

The description warns that the owner can encounter the mines too, but it does not guarantee that forcing a retreat through a field is always possible or effective. Brutes at 35 minerals are a cheap-unit price reference, not proof that sacrificing them is the correct way to scout pressure mines. Detection, activation and damage require the mine and ability records. Identify the mined route and alternatives before committing troops. The useful starting point is the documented delay and friendly risk, followed by the Installation of mines page, not a universal disposable-scout rule.
