What it is

Armored infantry opens access to a heavy infantry squad. Its English description says “Opens an infantry squad with a heavy Praetorian paratrooper.” The upgrade is global in the game files, build 23882143, and costs 1 300 minerals. The unit configuration for Assault squad explicitly requires this doctrine as well as other prerequisites. The word paratrooper in the description does not, by itself, prove an airborne deployment mechanic. Read the squad page for its actual combat characteristics and production requirements.

Where it comes from

The Airdrop tactical ability uses related vocabulary: “A small detachment of infantry is landing.” Both descriptions occur in build 23882143, but a shared word is not a link between their mechanics. Unlike a speculative match by name, the Assault squad has an explicit prerequisite pointing to Armored infantry. That is the useful connection for this doctrine. It establishes access to a squad; it does not establish that researching the doctrine summons a tactical landing or changes the behaviour of the separate Airdrop ability.

How it is actually used

The unlock is identified by an explicit prerequisite link. Mass infantry has 2 100 base hit points and a 500-point reserve, whereas the Assault squad is the entry with 30 armour and an explicit Armored infantry prerequisite. Those are different squads. Brutes provide another comparison at 35 minerals and five population with 1 900 combined hit points. Choose the doctrine for access to the Assault squad and check its remaining prerequisites; the health of Mass infantry is not the benefit this doctrine grants.

How to beat it

Armored infantry is an access upgrade, so the opponent you must assess is the squad it enables rather than the doctrine itself. The flamethrower tank and flamethrower turret each have a calculated anti-infantry output of 369.2 damage per second in their generated weapon records. That is a theoretical weapon comparison, not a guaranteed kill time against an Assault squad. Armour, resistances, range and movement still matter. Consult the squad and weapon pages before treating fire as an automatic answer.
