What it is

MLRS describes a substitution from barrel to rocket artillery: “Replaces the Molot barrel artillery with the Topaz MLRS.” The source is build 23882143. Its replacingContent connects Howitzer “Molot” to MLRS “Vortex”. The research description calls the replacement Topaz, while the linked unit is named Vortex in English and Вихрь in Russian. This is a genuine disagreement between localisation and configuration identity. We preserve both source layers without choosing a new name for the developer. The upgrade changes the recorded production content rather than proving a free conversion of every already-built howitzer.

Where it comes from

The building corpus contains area-resistance coefficients from −0.5 to 0.9, from build 23882143; this does not prove different damage behaviour of barrel and rocket artillery. Howitzer “Molot” costs 140 minerals and 10 population, with 350 base hit points, 5 armour and coefficient −0.6. MLRS “Vortex” costs 250 and 20, with 300 base hit points, 45 armour and coefficient 0.0. Until 4 September 2026, the page wrongly denied the connection. It is now verified through replacingContent; the damage formula is not established here.

How it is actually used

The substitution changes minerals from 140 to 250 and population from 10 to 20. MLRS armour 45 exceeds the previous 5; area-resistance coefficients change from −0.6 to 0.0, without a verified damage multiplier. Base hit points drop from 350 to 300, while build time rises from fourteen to thirty seconds. The source fragments “long range, but also long minimum range” and “wide dispersion” describe a long minimum range and dispersion. Our advice is to check whether the new firing position fits the task. Weapon parameters are separately available; an earlier reading error is not reason to declare them absent.

How to beat it

Dispersal and pressure on rocket artillery are options after scouting. The trench and Bunker coefficient 0.6 does not guarantee protection against a particular weapon. The Howitzer has 350 base hit points and 5 armour; the MLRS has 300 base hit points and 45 armour. This does not establish immunity to small arms. A trench with coefficient 0.6 costs ten minerals; a Bunker with the same 0.6 costs 120. Our advice is to choose shelter for position and garrison, and inspect artillery minimum range and escort before attacking, without a universal counter ranking.
